Happy Elders Program
Submitted by may on Tue, 2007-05-01 08:35.
Began in October 1999 and run entirely by volunteers, the goal of our program is simple. We want to get together one day a week (Tuesday) in a safe, stress-free, pleasant, upbeat, and welcoming environment to socialize, interact, exchange information, and exercise to keep us physically and mentally healthy.
We meet every tuesday at 10:30am at GBCCA big hall upstairs. On a typical day, our activities include stretching exercises, a topical discussion, an informal talk, or a demonstration of some kind. Around noontime we eat a nutritious, delicious lunch prepared on-site by (our own) volunteers. Our afternoon programs vary, depending on the interests of the participants: karaoke, ballroom dancing, Tai Chi exercises. We often go on field trips, particularly during the summer. With a grant from Springwell, we also have onsite access to a registered nurse on minor health issues.
Please do come to join us! – As a volunteer or as a participant, you'll be glad that you did. Please feel free to contact us anytime.
